Out-of-stock product recommendations: explained
One of the most requested features for Siggy is the ability to display recommendations for out-of-stock products. Although Siggy supports this by default, we will dive into the Shopify configurations a bit further to explain how this works.
The one to rule them all!
If you just want to enable out-of-stock items to be displayed from the product recommendation, you can simply check the “Display out of stock products” configuration in Siggy.
(Please note this will ignore your Shopify inventory tracking setting for the product and may display products that are not meant to be shown)
To better understand how Siggy will provide recommendations to out-of-stock items by default, read on the following example setup in Shopify.
Case 1: Inventory not tracked (Shown in recommendation)
Siggy will display the product in the recommendation if inventory is not tracked for all variants of a product (e.g. selling digital products, using a different system for tracking inventory).
Case 2: Inventory tracked and Out-of-stock (Not shown in recommendation)
Siggy will not display the product in the recommendation if inventory is tracked for one or more variants and the variant has 0 quantity (out of stock).
Case 3: Selling out of stock items
Siggy will display the product in the recommendation if inventory is tracked for one or more variants, the variant is out of stock and the option “Continue selling when out of stock” is checked
